Abstract
Most investigations of the propagation of seismic waves have been based on rather scanty material for large epicentral distances, especially between 120° and 140°. The occurrence of two large shocks, well registered at Pasadena, on Sept. 25 and Oct. 3, 1931, the former off Sumatra and the latter in the Solomon Islands, suggested collection of seismograms for investigation, since the former shock should give records at the desired distances in America, the latter in Europe.
