Abstract

The effort to develop suspended mass interferometers for gravitational wave detection has lead to an ambitious new set of long baseline interferometers that will soon become operational. These detectors are based on the effect of a propagating gravitational wave to deform space in a quadrupolar form. The characteristics of the deformation are indicated in figure 1.
