Abstract
Biological electron carriers are central to life. Numerous technological advances have engendered rapid growth in the field between 2003 and 2018. Special emphasis is put on key advances in this 15 year time frame. Our understanding of how electrons move between and through proteins has matured. We are now at a point where predictions of redox properties and behavior are possible. Particular emphasis is placed on iron (heme and non-heme) and copper proteins.
