Abstract
Current approaches for elec. power generation from nanoscale conducting or semi-conducting layers in contact with moving aq. droplets show efficiencies of around 30 percent but pose challenges regarding fabrication and scaling. Stable all-inorg. single-element nanolayers prepd. in a single step are reported here that generate elec. current when aq. solns. flow along their surface. Mechanistic insights derived from theory and expts. are discussed.
