Abstract

The Modelo formation (Upper Miocene) in the eastern part of the Santa Monica Mountains in California comprises two members as mapped by Harold Hoots (1931). Both upper and lower members of the formation have yielded an abundance of fossil fish. A previous report has treated the principal features of the fish fauna from the lower Modelo. The present paper is intended to show the composition of the fish fauna from the upper member of the formation and to discuss the relationships of the upper and lower assemblages.
