Abstract
This lecture will describe our ongoing effort to engineer the phys. and biol. properties of thin bacterial films by display of adhesive proteins on the cell surface, by release of matrix proteins into the extracellular space, and by mineralization subsequent to film formation. Studies of film fabrication, cell viability, film growth, film structure, indentation behavior, and regeneration following injury will be discussed.
