Abstract

This paper focuses on nonlinearity compensation schemes for optical interconnects. Receiver-side digital nonlinear equalizers are investigated, and a custom piecewise-linear equalizer is proposed as an energy-efficient candidate. Transmitter-side techniques utilizing nonlinear electrical drivers or segmented optical modulators are reviewed.
