Anne M. Buck

Anne M. Buck is the University Librarian at the California Institute of Technology. A graduate of Wellesley College, Buck received the MS in Library and Information Science from the University of Kentucky in 1977. From 1991-1995, she was University Librarian at the New Jersey Institute of Technology; at the break up of AT&T in 1984, Buck transferred from Bell Labs to create and direct the Bellcore Library Network. Buck has taught library management at Rutgers University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison and contributed chapters to Professional Writing and The Complete Chemical Engineer: A Student Guide to Critical Thinking. Buck is Vice President of the Engineering Information Foundation and past-Treasurer of the American Society for Information Science. A long-term interest in defining and building a new paradigm for scholarly communication led Buck to organize and co-chair the Conference on Scholarly Communication, hosted by Caltech in March, 1997.
