Abstract

A new family of dinucleating ligands has been designed and their dicobalt complexes synthesized. The ability of these compds. to catalyze the redn. of protons to dihydrogen has been thoroughly investigated using both electrochem. and spectroscopic methods. Structure-function relationships and mechanistic proposals are presented and comparisons are made both to mononuclear analogs and to the bimetallic active site of Fe-only hydrogenase.
