Abstract
Towards the bigger picture of developing modular solns. for photoelectrochem. water splitting, catalytic proton redn. mediated by cobalt bis(iminopyridine) complexes has been explored in buffered aq. media over a broad range of pH conditions. The extremely rapid rates of electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution exhibited by firstgeneration catalysts will be discussed in conjunction with the performance of second-generation electrocatalysts. Details of electrochem. and photochem. mechanistic studies, kinetic competency, and the effects of reaction medium on H_2 evolution will also be presented.
