Our first discussion topic concerns the history of molecular evolutionary biology, and more specifically the early reception of what came to be known variously as the "non-Darwinian evolution" or (later) the "neutral theory." In particular, we are soliciting recollections and discussions of early interpretations and evaluations of two seminal papers by Motoo Kimura (1968) and Jack King and Thomas Jukes (1969). You can go directly to the discussion, or you may want to enter through the molecular evolution site so that you can see the variety of historical materials posted there.
