Sources are given for tropical regions (15degresS–15degresN), viz. tropical South-America (180degresW–30degresW), tropical Africa (30degresW–65degresE) and Indonesia (90degresE–180degresE). Uncertainties of posterior emissions (given as 2-sigma only for scenarios S1 and S3) are estimated based on the leading Eigenvectors of the posterior covariance matrix (Meirink et al., 2007a), and have been aggregated to yearly numbers for the respective regions taking into account spatio-temporal error correlations. It should be noted that these estimates furthermore depend on the specific settings of the inversions (e.g. uncertainties and spatio-temporal correlations of prior emissions) and do not account for systematic model errors.
