Abstract

It is a pleasure to return to Erice for this meeting on the history of elementary particle physics. It has been my practice at such conferences to present personal reminiscences, which may be regarded as thread to be woven into history by others. This occasion is no exception. I should like to recall today certain features that characterized much of my research on elementary particle physics and to relate them to the influence exerted on my thinking by Viki Weisskopf, whom I was lucky enough to have as my thesis supervisor when I was in graduate school at M. I. T.
