Abstract
The study of the physics of solid and molten Earth materials as a scientific subfield of solid Earth geophysics continues to grow rapidly. Much of the research is motivated by the many new observations of the geophysics of the crust, mantle, and core that requires explanation in terms of such variables as composition, temperature, and rheology.
