Abstract
The linearized equations describing binary and multicomponent mass transfer for a general class of problems are transformed to a “one-dimensional” root finding problem in the total molar flux. An algorithm is presented capable of solving this problem for a variety of mass transfer models. Applications to the film and penetration models are considered in detail. Numerical results are given which show that the new method is much faster than other currently available methods.
