Abstract
In this chapter we shall review the theoretically calculated abundances of U, Th relative to Si for solar system material, our arguments being based primarily on nuclear theory and only in part on experimental determinations from meteorites. In fact our estimates for U, Th abundances turn out about four times greater than direct determinations for chondritic meteorites. They are indeed so great as to raise geophysical questions as to whether such quantities can be accommodated inside the earth.
