Abstract

It is appropriate that a discussion of the infrared capabilities of the (L)ST follows one about the IRAS since the (L)ST bears much the same symbiotic relationship to IRAS as the 200-inch Hale Telescope does to the 48-inch telescope which performed the complete optical survey of the sky.
