Abstract

The synthesis of ruthenium carbenes by the reaction of a Ru(0) compound or Ru(0) precursors with dihalo compounds is reported. A new procedure for the preparation of [Ru(H)_2(H_2)_2(PCy_3)_2] and the use of this complex as a starting material for the synthesis of ruthenium carbenes are presented.
