Social and emotional neuroscience

Emotions and social behavior are intimately related: the former motivate the latter, and much of social communication overlaps with emotional expression, as Darwin already noted. The reviews in this issue highlight the fact that their neural substrates also show considerable overlap. While doing so, they raise a series of important questions than can serve to organize the diverse contributions in this issue, questions that spring from the diversity of species examined and methods.
