Abstract

We present results from the use of an image deconvolution method for achieving subpixel resolution in certain data regimes. Restorations are performed using a shell which utilizes the Gull-Skilling MEMSYS-3 package. We have performed extensive tests using the method and have determined general limits of its applicability and resolving power. We present results from applying the technique to simulated and real images of sparse and closely crowded astronomical fields. Specific projects involved in this study include a search for close companions to quasars and the structural investigation of star cluster cores.
