Abstract
Norman A. Haskell was basically interested in understanding the physical processes observed on the earth. He tried to keep the essential structure of the atmosphere and earth in his models. For that reason he modified the atmosphere with gradients and the upper portion of the solid earth with homogeneous layers, which was then the commonly accepted geological model of the lithosphere.
