Properties of amorphous and microcrystalline superconductors


Results of x-ray diffraction, electrical resistivity, critical field(Hc2) and transport measurements are presented and discussed for bulk amorphous and microcrystalline transition metal alloys obtained by liquid quenching. The transition temperature of the alloys is in the range 1.5 to 4.7°K. It is observed that J_c-H_(c2)-T_c relations are rather simple for this class of material. These relations are compared with the theories of type II superconductors whereever possible. The high resistance of bulk metallic glass to radiation damage might render them suitable for magnetic field applications in high radiation environments.
