Abstract
The experiments herewith reported were undertaken with the view of introducing certain improvements into the oil-drop method [1] of determining e and N and thus obtaining a higher accuracy than had before been possible in the evaluation of these most fundamental constants.

© 1913 The American Physical Society Received 2 June 1913 I take pleasure in acknowledging the able assistance of Mr. J. Yinbong Lee in making some of the above observations. Mr. Lee has also repeated with my apparatusthe observations on oil at atmospheric pressure with results which are nearly as consistent as the above. Using my value of b he obtains, as a means of measurements on 14 drops, a value of e which differs from the above by less than 1 part in 6000, although its probable error computed as in the case of Table XX. is 1 part in 2000.Files
