Gravitational Deflection of the Leighton Telescopes

Abstract

The gravitational deflection of the 10.4 meter telescopes used for the Owens Valley Radio Observatory millimeter-interferometer array have been measured using radio holographic techniques. The measurements show that the telescopes are very stiff with less than 20 microns RMS deviation from homology over the zenith angle range from 15 to 70 degrees.
