Abstract
Chester Stock, professor of paleontology and chairman of the Division of the Geological Sciences at the California Institute of Technology and a member of the Association, died at his home in Pasadena on December 7, 1950, at the age of 58. His death occurred unexpectedly in his sleep and was caused by cerebral hemorrhage. He had returned a few days previously in relatively good health and spirits from the annual meeting of the Geological Society of America in Washington, D. C., where he had been elected to the presidency of the Society for 1951. His sudden passing was a great shock to colleagues, students, and his many friends in the geologic profession.
