Abstract
An 80.19-kev transition with a half-life of 11.9 days and M4 multipolarity has been observed in a neutron-irradiated sample of iridium. The corresponding isomeric state has been assigned to Ir193, which is produced by two successive neutron captures in Ir191. A pile-neutron capture cross section of 1500 barns is found for Ir192.
