Abstract
The lowest singlet state of s-triazine is characterized as ^1E″ arising from e′ → e″ promotion (n → π^*). The state has angular momentum corresponding to g = 0.24. The state is also subject to a first-order Stark effect (α = 0.53D) due to electric field induced interactions of 2s and 2p electrons. We report on the electric and magnetic field splittings, and a brief theoretical description of these effects.
