Abstract
This document provides a technical introduction to the Owens Valley Millimeter-wave Interferometer and a description of its operation by observers. These notes were derived from a one-day series of lectures held on campus on November 29, 1988 which reviewed the overall system, the computers, receivers and receiver optimization, and IF distribution. In addition, there was some discussion of developments expected within the next year, i.e., the digital correlator and the new computer control system (UIP). The early chapters include a general introduction to the interferometer and its electronics, while the later chapters include discussion most relevant to immediate operation of the instrument. The bulk of the material presented here was prepared in late 1988, although several sections were updated in March 1990.
