Abstract
Conditions and procedures are described for the growth and assay of bacteriophage MS2, an RNA-containing phage. Procedures are described for the preparation of ^(15)N^(32)P-labeled MS2 phage, and for the use of such labeled phage in the measurement of transfer of parental RNA to progeny phage. No evidence for any type of conservative or semi-conservative transfer is found and dispersive transfer is limited to 3%.
