Abstract
The formation of refractory particles by gas-phase chemical reactions in high-temperature systems is examined using thermal-decomposition reactions as sources of vapor species that nucleate forming small particles that grow by coagulation and vapor deposition. The factors that govern particle evolution and structure is examined.
