A Note on the Unit-Circle-Zeros Property of the MVDR Beamformer

Abstract

It is known that the Minimum Variance Distortionless Response (MVDR) beamformer or Capon beamformer has all its zeros on the unit circle of the z-plane under some standard assumptions. A number of proofs have been given in the literature. An observation is made here which makes the proof of the result considerably simpler.
