Determinación de la energía de disociación homolítica de la unión O-H en el 2,3,5,6-tetrametil-4-metoxifenol


2,3,5,6-Tetramethyl-4-methoxyphenol (YMMPH) was synthesized and the corresponding phenoxy radical (TMMP) was recorded by means of electron spin resonance spectroscopy. The actual and the computer-simulated spectra were in accordance. The equilibrium YMMPH + BMP ⇌ TMMP + BMPH (BMPH: 2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol) was monitored by ESR and ΔH was derived: -1.84 ± 0.07 Kcal/mol, from ten measurements of the equilibrium constant. The O-H bond dissociation energy of TMMPH was found to be 78.01 ± 0.08 Kcal/mol.
