pH Sensitization of Phospholipid Vesicles via Complexation with Synthetic Poly(carboxylic acid)s
Abstract
Controlled release of vesicle-entrapped substances in response to changes in environmental conditions may provide a basis for new technologies in pharmaceutics, in imaging, in sensing, or in medical diagnostics. We describe in this paper a fundamentally new method of producing pH-sensitive vesicles from pH-insensitive amphiphiles, a method that consists of complexation of the amphiphile with a pH-sensitive polyelectrolyte.
